NESSP Space Grant is seeking middle - high school teachers to lead camp
Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline

The Northwest Earth and Space Sciences Pipeline (NESSP) is a NASA funded project aimed at providing access to Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) to underserved and underrepresented students in the Pacific Northwest. As part of this effort, NESSP is offering summer camps at each state at middle school and high school levels. NESSP is seeking middle through high school educators, para-educators, community leaders, and enrichment educators who attend underserved communities to run the camps.
All camp curriculum will be provided by NESSP.  Training is required and will be available through diverse events such as regional workshops and summits (for more information visit: https://nwessp.org/apply-soon-for-nessp-regional-summits-and-teacher-workshops/). Lodging and catering during training will be provided for all participants at no cost. Travel assistance is also available. Preference will be given to educators who commit to participate in workshop activities that prepare them to conduct local student summer camps in summer of 2018.

Themes: The camps are expected to run four days consecutively and cover: 1) environmental sciences and remote sensing 2) robotics and surface exploration, and 3) rockets and exploration of the solar system.

Compensation: The teacher will receive a $1500 stipend and the assistant will receive $1000 for leading four day camp with between 20-40 students.  If the camp is run at less than four days the compensation would be accordingly prorated.

Resources: Summer camps will be provided stipends for educators, materials, and supplies and access to a network of subject matter experts. NESSP will purchase all needed instructional/curricular materials needed.  NESSP will provide support for snacks and lunches for all participating students and reasonable transportation costs for students with demonstrated high need.

Application Registration for camps should be completed online via https://goo.gl/forms/yk2HAEGFwXVcNmfA3 before March 31st, 2018.
